Red Wings take 2-0 lead in NHL Finals

So I missed the opening game of the stanley cup finals and did not see the red wings 4-0 win, that is what happens when you go on a little road trip, glad I missed it.  But I did see tonights game and saw that the wings took it to the penquins 3-0. 2 shut outs in the finals, I do not like this, I saw the penquins look like a whl team playing a nhl powerhouse.  The only real spark were the few cheap shots that the pittspugh players took at the red wings.  Chris Osgood looked great and so did their dmen. they toyed with the offence for pittspurgh.  Malkin sure does not look like the player we saw when crosby was out. So can they turn it around and at least make a series out of it or are they done. I do not know, but if the red wings keep playing this way, it will be a 4 game series.

Detroit goes up in series.

Interesting start to last nights game, detroit has a man advantage and then there is a scrum after the whistle and the ref calls throws a dallas player in the box to make it a 5 on 3 powerplay.  of course detroit scored and it could have been a different game had that been 2 players in the box.  Now I can understand the refs trying to keep control of the game. throwing 1 player in the box instead of 2, but to do it on a powerplay to the team allready down, I do not know. But it makes a point, and it cost dallas the game.

 

ANyway other then that it looked like the red wings handled the stars pretty easily.  we will see what happens next game, i still stand on my opinion that the wings will be in the finals.

 

SO keep an eye out if u at one of the games in detroit, u might get hit by an octopus:) they are back…and I think the wings can out play all the penalties they can get by having their 8 legged friends on the ice.

Who is Pittspurghs MVP?

Hmmm, I am wondering who is going to be pittsburghs top producer in the series against the flyers.  I do think that the penquins will win the series and if you look who is doing what, then you have to wonder. Losing 1 game only in the playoffs will it be Fleury? Malkin is doing his thing,  hossa is scoring as is duprius, and crosby is not scoring, but creating chances and assists. Or will it be a savy vet like gary roberts who comes out grinding and playing his physical game that beats down the flyers to submission.

Alot of poeple are wondering if crosby is 100% right now, but as in any playoffs, is anyone 100%.  Who will step up and take control of this series, will it be a short or long grind it out, last man standing. I think I would like to see the penquins have to face some adversity in this series to better prepare them for the finals.  As we all saw last year, ottawa did not face much of a challenge, until they hit a wall and played the ducks, then BAM, they were done.

NHL Conference Finals are set

after last nights marathon game were the players were eating pizza dough and drinking shakes and intervenus, dallas finally scored in the 4th overtime to get the chance to meet the detroit red wings in the western conference finals. 

this should be a very good series, my hope are for detroit to win the series.  i would like to see the wings play another hi powered offence in the pittsbugh penquins. I think that they will beat the flyers to get to the finals, to see crosby, malkin, fleury and my fav gary roberts battle for the cup against the stars for detroit should be a very fast and exciting series with alot of scoring chances and a tone of great saves. I think it will be a tough road for pittsburg to beat the hard working flyers and briere will be on his game, plus the motivation from the last game of the season were pittsburgh tanked the game so they did not have to play philly in the first round, should be some bad blood there.

Dallas Stars win in OT #4

WOW, what a game, after most nhl playoff games that have gone into overtime ending with in 10 min of overtime, this dallas vs saj jose is almost 3/4 through the 6th period of hockey. WOW. 1-1 tie, fast exciting game, San Jose goalie made what I think is the save of the year reaching back with his glove and making an open net desparation save. the NHL reviewed the save to make sure the glove did not go into the net, it was right on the line.  and since then both nabokov and turco have been unbeatable. turco has made 58 saves and nabokov has made 47… I think turco has finally shown what he can do.

On the ECHL playoffs, my team the victoria salmon kings went out of the playoffs in a game that utah clearly controlled. lots of goals to not many:( does not matter what the score was cause I shut it off when it was 5-1 and started watching the nhl game.  I am proud of our boys in the fish jersey though, over the last 4 years the improvements have been huge each year, ending with the kings winning their first division title and getting past the first round for the first time. last year they were knocked out in their first playoffs in the first round. So like we heard the chicago cubs say for the lat 100 years, “Maybe next year”:)

anyway i have more hockey to watch here, onto 10th period of hockey today, don’t laugh, it sunday:)

Game over, dallas won in the 4 th overtime period, Brenden Morrow scored a power play goal 9:03…great game, fast, hard hitting and great goaltending.

San jose’s year is over….

Now we have been hearing there could be some big players retiring this year.  jagr, sakic, forsburg(again)roenick, and a few others i can not remember.

pittspurgh goes on to play the FLyers

I did not watch all of the game, Pittspurgh went up by 2 goals and the rangers cam back, the game went into overtime and the rangers had a 4 minute powerplay, about 2 plus min going into overtime.  No powerplay goal and then pittspurgh had a lucky bounse and scored. now they go onto face philly, lets see if they can overcome the physical game of philly. i think that the pens will be able to do that, they have afew tough players like gery roberts, ruttu, and big george who will not let anything happen to syndey.

 

Canada is currently up 7-0 in the world championships against latvia.

the Victoria salmon kings go into a do or die game against Utah in game 5 of the echl playoff series, they lose they are out and if they win then game 6 in victoria…..HOPES FOR A GOOD WIN TONIGHT…

Habs are out, Now Victoria Salmon Kings of the Echl are canadas pro team

Well, the Montreal canadiens lost tonight, I thought they would win carey price made some awsome saves, the team played well except for 2 goals withing 2 minutes of each other that gave up the lead. I think that the habs did the right things this year and have alot to look forward to next season.   A few more pieces of the puzzle and gainey could have a longer cup run, having his captain back helped them and the composure of carey price and a backup who they can play(and it looks like he is good too) they will be in for another great season.

 

This leaves the victoria salmon kings as canada’s sole pro hockey team in the playoffs, the salmon kings are in the ECHL, playing the utah grizzleys and currently down in the series 3 games to 1, the salmon kings have had the best season in their four year history, being led this year by Ash and Wes Goldie, Kyle Mcleod, Milan Gajic, Dylan Yoe, Matt Kelly, goalies julien ellis and billy thompson and our original local boy Ryan wade.  the first 3 games of the series we saw alot of goals, 6-0, 1-6, 6-5, and then today the game was a 1-0 shutout for the grizzleys. So there is one more game in utah as the echl does a playoff format of 2-3-2.  So hoping our victoria salmon kings can pull the game out on sunday and come back for ame 6 and 7 in victoria and get a the wins to play a season rival with a nasty history this year in the las vegas wranglers.

Playoff Hockey is On!!! and some other tidbits from scott

Wow, I never thought that the Dallas Stars would be the team who could walk right the the stanley cup finals, they have beat some good teams. Of course once they dispatch the sharks(who did win last night) they will have to get through the detroit red wings, who by the way are having about the same ease. should be a good conference finals. The good thing about both detroit and dallas is they are playing as a good team, they both have players stepping up their game and playing a good team game.  In the east coast, could the last canadian team get the boot out the door tonight, the montreal canadiens need to keep winning in order for us to see the carey price vs sidney crosby show. but I m not sure if the habs can get by the rough philly flyers. the seem to be beating them up pretty good. I think it will be a pittsburg vs detroit final. might be a start of a dynasty:) for either team.

 

I am also excited about baseball being on it way, have not payed to much attention to it yet. but as the hockey playoffs finish, my attention goes over to baseball. I see the toronto Blue jays might be in for a manager change, possibly a gm change??? they are not hitting these days and in turn not supporting the pitching staff, so no wins, and they are last. the blue jays parted ways with the Big HUrt and he showed up in Oakland, so with frank thomas having a few good games, this helps my oakland team:)

 

In the Nba, My old hi school nemisis on the basketball court Steve Nash and his phoenix sund got knocked out of the playoffs, I am wondering how that team will go, as it is clear the shaq/nash mix does not work. so what will happen in the off season.
